Various electronic mailing lists (e-lists) are served at UMKC and administered by George Gale as part of the philosophy department's Science Studies project. The following are considered public and allow open subscriptions:
- leibniz
- psa
Subscriber information for public lists is considered confidential and is not available.
A brief explanation of commands used to change your subscription status follows. For a more complete explanation of L-soft's Listserv commands, go here.
To subscribe to a list:
- Address a message to listserv@listserv.umkc.edu
- Leave the subject line blank
- In the message body, include only the text: subscribe listname your_first_and_last_name e.g., subscribe psa Pat Smith
To leave a list:
- Address a message to listserv@listserv.umkc.edu
- Leave the subject line blank
- In the message body, include only the text: signoff listname
To post a message to a list (if posting is allowed on a given list)
- Address your message to listname@listserv.umkc.edu.
To receive daily digests of a list instead of individual postings:
- Address a message to listserv@listserv.umkc.edu
- Leave the subject line blank
- In the message body, include only the text: digest listname
- To cancel this option, issue another message to the same address with the command: nodigest listname
To stop mailings but remain subscribed to a list:
- Address a message to listserv@listserv.umkc.edu
- Leave the subject line blank
- In the message body, include only the text: nomail listname
- To cancel this option, issue another message to the same address with the command: mail listname
- This option is useful is you will be out of the office for a while and you use an e-mail auto-responder. If you use an auto-responder to tell people who send you e-mail that you are out of the office, Listserv could automatically unsubscribe you from a list if it receives too many of these auto-respond messages.
Please send mail to galeg@umkc.edu for assistance with Science Studies e-list issues.
